MATTHEW SLATE

PROVOST

Matthew began fencing at age 13 and joined The 1595 Club in 2011.

He became the club's 11th Free Scholar in 2012, was awarded Senior Scholar in 2016 and attained the rank of Provost in 2022.

He is a founder member and instructor of the London salle of The 1595 Club.

STEPH HOLT

FREE SCHOLAR

Steph as trained in martial arts for the last 20 years. Initially training in Chinese and Japenese forms, including Wing Chun, Aikido and Katori Shinto Rye, she was first introduced to European martial arts around 2013. On a reccomendation she went to an open workshop in Brighton and was instantly hooked!

She predominantly trains with the "war rapier", inspired by sword A535 in the Wallace Collection in London.
