ERIC ARTZT

Eric's martial arts path began in 198o with Cuong Nhu karate. After moving to Seattle, Eric began a decade of study of Wing Tzun under Si-fu Emin Boztepe. Eric eventually found his ideal coach in the person of the late Filipino martial arts Grandmaster, Rene Latosa. Rene’s martial and pedagogical principles have since formed the core of Eric’s coaching and practice. Sword-curious since childhood, Eric began studying and coaching HEMA in Seattle in 2010, focusing on Fiore longsword and dagger. Eric met Chris Chatfield in 2020, and quickly recognized a deep kinship with Chris, and the coaching and martial approach of The 1595. We are a small but scrappy group of fencers living in beautiful Bend, Oregon, and are delighted to align with The 1595 Club as a satellite club.
